Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services (STS) advises that a shortage of
school bus drivers is having an impact on school bus operations in the City of London
and Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin Counties, similar to many other regions in Ontario.
Parents and guardians should prepare alternate transportation arrangements in the
event of school bus service disruptions due to bus driver shortages.

In the event of school bus route cancellations:
The contractors will post the cancellations to the website as early as possible.
Single-Day Bus Cancellations:
• The bus run will be posted as cancelled by 6:30 am on the STS website: https://www.mybigyellowbus.ca/
• Cancellations notices will be sent by STS to parents who subscribe to STS email
alerts or have the BP Delays App and will also be posted to the STS delays app
Multiple-Day Bus Cancellations:
• The same daily notification process for single day cancellations will be observed
for multiple day cancellations, with additional following communications:
• STS will email the Principal with a copy to the Superintendent as well as the
Superintendent of Business advising of the cancellation and the expected
duration STS will email each affected family the same day that STS is advised of
the cancellation, including the expected length of time
• The parent communication will be shared with the Principal so they are aware of
what their parents are receiving from STS
Doubling up of Bus Routes:
• Route doubling will continue in the service area to avoid cancelling bus runs
altogether and ensuring students have an opportunity to attend school.
• This process includes using one school bus to perform the work that two school
buses have been scheduled due to lack of school bus drivers.
• This practice may cause buses to arrive late in the mornings and/or afternoons.
